My experiment with the artichokes came to nothing very early in the season. We had an outbreak of aphids that spread from a hibiscus plant. I mixed up a "natural" spray for my seedlings which had oil, soap and water in it. I think the oil ended up coating the leaves and basically smothering them. They slowly died. I have no seed left, so artichokes will have to wait for another year.
The rest of my seedlings are not looking so hot either-as well as the aphids appearing on pretty much everything I may have some damping off. I do not like peat pots. I've come to the conclusion that they promote the growth of mold. Even with my fan running, I've not been able to keep them from turning white. Note to self: order plastic pots for next year.
Expecting rain tomorrow, but the rest of the week looks nice so I think it's time to start hardening off what pathetic seedlings I have before they all bite the dust.
