What's everyone been up to lately? Feels like I haven't made a card in ages. I've been doing more sewing than paper crafting lately; however it's time again for a Moving Along with the Times challenge. This week's theme is to use the color of your birthstone in your creation. My birthday is in January which means I've got a red card for you this time.
A friend gave me this stamp she didn't want anymore. Apples: perfect for a red card! I also had the perfect 6x6 pad with some apple print paper in it.
Now go make something with your birthstone colors and link up with us! Can't wait to see what you come up with!
Here's how you can fake out your friends with homemade "enamel dots" like I did on this card.
Squeeze out some Glossy Accents onto a nonstick craft mat- waxed paper will work just as well. I tried some different sizes, but tend to prefer small ones. Let them dry.
Once they are completely dry pull out some nail polish and make them whatever color you'd like. Let them dry again. It's not a big deal if you color "outside the lines" a bit. Once you peel them off the mat you can trim off any excess.
I think I'll be making a bunch more of these black ones as I've searched all over for black pearls and haven't been able to find any. I also can't foresee any circumstance where I'll be wanting to wear black on my nails again either.
Here are a couple other colors I tried. Generally I think the bolder, brighter ones tend to look better. You may want to go over them with a second coat if the first coat didn't cover well. That's all there is to it! I'd say it's only about a minute of hands-on time and then just waiting for them to dry. I just put another dab of Glossy Accents on the back to attach them to my cards. I like that these are a bit flatter than some of the store-bought enamel accents and will go through the mail easier.
I'd love to see your creations using this technique! Feel free to link up your project with your comments below.
Seems lately I've been putting butterflies on every card I make! Lucky for me, this month's theme for House of Cards is butterflies! I think I can handle that! If butterflies aren't your thing, feel free to join us anyway by using our color scheme:
I've got a whole set to share with you this time. After making this card for a friend in purple I wanted to try a whole set in a rainbow of colors.
One mistake I made was that the corners of the front square extend over the edges so it doesn't stand up...I didn't realize that until they were already glued together. I also did some sewing on the original which, of course, I forgot until it was too late for these. I have to admit I like my original card better.
Each butterfly is two punched layers, with the stamped butterfly having his wings bent up. The size of each card is about 5 1/4" square, so I also made a matching envelope for each card. Thanks for taking a peek at my interpretation of the challenge and I hope you'll join us in playing along this month!
Time to share another challenge with you for Moving Along with the Times! This week's theme is to use a tag. Maybe it's on a layout, on a card, a mixed media project, or just a tag for a gift...whatever sort of project you want to make is fine as long as we see a tag! Come play along with us!
I'm using a stamp and sentiment from the Fiskars Latte Love set which I just got recently from a friend who had bought it twice! I had to add a little sewing to my card just because it never looks complete without it.
I think this card is destined for a friend who is a real coffee connoisseur!
Oops, I forgot to write my post for the Moving Along with the Times challenge. This week we've got a bunny theme going, so hop right to it and get creating!
I was recently at a friends house for a day of stamping and stamped off some of these cute bunnies to color later. I kept my layout simple, using up some scraps for the banners. I just love this cute bunny! Now it's your turn, hope to see you there!
